Lixouri
Lixouri, on Kefalonia’s western Paliki peninsula, is the island’s second-largest town after Argostoli, offering a blend of relaxed charm and local culture. Destroyed in the 1953 earthquake and lovingly rebuilt in traditional style, its waterfront features a lively central square dotted with cafes, bars, shops, the historic Iakovatios Library, and Philharmonic School.
Daily ferries connect to Argostoli in 20–30 minutes. Nearby beaches—Xi (red clay and shallow waters), Lepeda, Mega Lakkos, and blue‑flag Petani—offer stunning coastal escapes with natural spa clay and dramatic views. Frequent folklore festivals, friendly locals, tasty tavernas, and a rich musical heritage make Lixouri a vibrant yet authentic gateway to the peninsula.
