Drogarati Cave

Drogarati Cave, near Sami in Kefalonia, was revealed about 300 years ago when an earthquake collapsed part of the mountain, exposing its entrance﹣it opened to the public in 1963. This 150-million-year-old limestone marvel extends roughly 60–95 m deep, with towering stalactites and stalagmites in its vast “Chamber of Exaltation,” measuring about 65 × 45 m, 20 m high.

The cave maintains a constant 18 °C and 90 % humidity. A dramatic “Royal Balcony” overlooks the chamber, renowned for its acoustics. Visiting requires descending steps into cool subterranean beauty—an unforgettable geological and cultural experience.
